Hi Eleonora,
I hope you are well and want to apologise for the long delay in returning your comment but things have been a bit busy.
I am not an educator by training or experience, I have landed up in it during the last project I worked with. For me one of the biggest challenges in education and especially EE is to stay relevant and contextual to a rapidly changing world, to keep up with technological development and to adjust education accordingly. That said and done, it is even more challenging to keep things simple so that people can learn. We all suffer from information overload and to just expose people to EE as just another set of info, is just not on. I firmly believe people have to experience the environment to enable them to learn from it and to take care of it. And it is not always easy to create experiences during learning opportunities. I would say these are some of the challenges that I have experienced. Would like to hear what you think. Elna

Hi Eleonora and thank you for the kind response - It is interesting to hear how other countries work and a year of civil service sounds like a good idea but no we do not have such things in South Africa. And to do it is a protected area sounds like an even better idea. I am sure you have enjoyed it and the reason why you are continuing with the work there. What are the kind of things you do? Do you work with schools and training at all? What for you are some of the major challenges in environmental education? Would you mind sharing your thoughts on some of these aspects.
