Observation of colors in nature is important, especially for small students.
It's also important to observe changing colours with the seasons.
How children observe colors of nature?
How they use the colors of nature?
From some years I use the "Map of Colours"
Just put on a paper stains realized observing colors present around us.
We can use pencils, or natural elements themselves (leaves, grass, flowers, stones…)
The only bond: not to draw forms (trees, leaves, branches), but just stains, and represent only colors really existing around me in nature, not in my imagination.
Maps produced by children are compared with each other.
We note:
- size and shape of stains
- relationships between stains - if they are united or not
- colors used
- proportions between colors
- presence of single colors or mixed colors
During the activities we tell a tale of colours, with three magicians (Red Radik, Yellow Tino, Turquoise Scrondo).
In this tale the forest become white ... and children become magicians ...
What do you think?
